Please connect to the people in your local community and connect them to CHAI!
Put up some posters to spread the word, let people know when our next meeting is, and how to get on our mailing/phone list. Some good places to post notices (please ask permission of the owners, first) might include:
Go to a well trafficked area in your community and let people know about CHAI, why we exist, and what we are doing. Get their name and email, and sign them up for our mailing list. Give them one of our flyers. Encourage them to get involved in a working group, come to our next meeting, or find a new and creative way to take action on this issue!
(Note: According to city by-laws we are fine to do this on public property - such as sidewalks - as long as we are not "causing a nuisance" or creating garbage. C-Train platforms are off-limits, though.)
Drop flyers in mailboxes on your street or around your community.
Call some friends and neighbours together to discuss the issues. Form a local group of interested people to work on issues in your community and help to organize for a "speakers corner" or town hall community event in the fall.
Write an article for a community/church/etc. newsletter. Please send a copy of it to us so others can get ideas and see what has already been written.
Contact a group who is already working on housing or related issues and invite them to our next meeting.
In addition to talking with people about the issues...
Our next general meeting:
Tuesday, October 17, 7:00 pm
@ Knox United Church (506 - 4 Street SW)
Our contact info:
The website: housingaction.ca
(you can tell people www.housingaction.ca - it goes to the same website),

That we are an advocacy group--not a support agency. If people are in need of housing assistance, please make sure they understand that we are not a support agency and do not have resources to help them in that way. There is information on how to get in touch with local support agencies who can help - they are listed in our leaflets and on the website and can also be connected with through the city's 211 phone number (24hr service).
